I hope that 2017 is everything you want & make sure you get out there & slay everything you do. I have been uber behind in life rolling into the new year so I thought for the first little while, whilst I get myself sorted I’m going to have some short & sweet posts of looks I created over 2016 & their tutorials on the tube.
I adore this look because it is so blown out, grungy & smokey that you feel super bad arse wearing it & lets be fair, who doesn’t love a black lip.
With all of the travelling I’ve been doing the last couple weeks (Canada – Australia – England) I’ve realised how extensive my makeup & brush collection is- weight wise it’s been a killer with packing. Which got me thinking: if I had to cull my brushes, which would get the flick & which would I keep, clutching them close to my loving heart in an immortal embrace? Once I thought about these specific brushes I realised they would make for the ideal beginner brush kit for a full face of makeup application.
I wanted to keep this list under ten items because let’s be real, brushes can be really expensive & when you’re starting to build your collection there’s so many more exciting things to buy….like the new KathleenLights X Morphe eyeshadow palette, or the Tarte Shape Tape Concealer, or you know … food.
Below you’ll find a list of brushes / makeup applicators, which I think are essential in a first kit of tools. I’ve provided two or three options for each type of tool & have tried to provide both high & low price points for each. Please note that none of these products are sponsored-it’s purely what I think makes a great makeup tool.
P.S. all the products listed above are cruelty free & a number are also vegan!
Thank you for reading & I hope this list provides you with something useful to take away & incorporate into your new makeup collection, or to help you decide which tools you’ll take with you on your next travels.
I’ve been diving head first into collecting a lot of new beauty & make-up products to test so I can give you all a variety of new & interesting reviews. Today’s post is about a cult beauty product, THE CHARCOAL MASK! I picked up this Daiso Charcoal peel off mask on Amazon for $2.99!
Please excuse my very sunburnt shoulders in the photo below but here is the first time I used the mask. On my first attempt I did not use enough of the product on my nose & therefore it didn’t draw all of the blackheads out. However I used the mask again a week later (it states you should not use it more then twice a week) & had far more success in the process, I could visibly see the gunk of the blackheads on the back of the charcoal once it was dry & I peeled it off.
Overall I am really happy with this charcoal peel off mask, the application & use is super simple which I love, it only takes around 12minutes to use & has perfect results!
As promised in my Wednesday post I have created a look using the Urban Decay & Gwen Stefani lip liner I picked up off Sephora & can I say it did not disappoint. Let’s jump straight in because this is a super short & sweet post. The liner has lived up to all the expectations I had for it & if you read my post on Wednesday you would have seen that I was concerned the formula would be too soft & smudge easily – it did not. The application was smooth & precise. This liner gets an A+ from me.
If you would like to see a tutorial on how I created the rest of this look subscribe to my youtube channel here to be notified when it goes up on Tuesday!
Bye for now, I will chat to you all in my next post on Wednesday!
As I am sure you can tell from the title this little post it is a first impressions on the Urban Decay | Gwen Stefani Lip Liner, I picked up the shade Rock Steady from Sephora online (Canada) last week for the amazing discounted price of $16.00! This is going to be a two part post as I will be running through what I first thought of the liner in this post & at the end of the week I will be creating a make-up look with this liner as the feature.
I would also like to show you all a glimpse of where I am living & working for the next 5 months, the water front you can see in the back of the photos in this post is the docks at the lake front on the camp I am working at. Taking photos on the water front in the full sun was spectacular!
Alright, time to get into the details:
Firstly, the packaging is gorgeous. It is so important for a brand to immediately, before you have even seen or tested the product draw the buyer in with the packaging. This Urban Decay liner does exactly that. The white & gold diagonal stripes are fun yet classic and exert a feeling of lavishness. Additionally, the coloured strip which runs down the end and back half of the packaging provides you with the name & visual representation of the colour of the liner (photo no.2).
Secondly, the actual casing of the liner is sleek, smooth & evenly balanced. I like the contrast in colour to the packaging, with the diagonal gold stripes being contrasted against black instead of white & the end of the pencil is the same red colour as the liner.
Thirdly, the colour is special, blood red & perfect for a statement ‘don’t f**k with me’ look. The pencil is also very creamy, which can be both a good & bad thing as you need to ensure precise application with the correct amount of pressure as you do not want to be smudging the line of your lip.
Once I have completed a look using this liner I will be back with part two of the post & fill you in on the longevity, comfort & colour pay off on the lips.
All in all I am very excited about this liner & think it will become a go to in my make-up bag. Let me know, have any of you got this liner or others from the Gwen Stefani collection? What do you think of them?
I know in my last post I let you all know I’m in Canada & I have now made it up to my place of employment for the next 5 months – a summer camp around 4 hours north of Toronto. I am beyond excited for this new adventure & will be sure to keep you all informed on the fun and crazy things I get up to. I am also in the final 2 weeks of this trimester at university & am very ready for a break; with two major essays to go the logical thing is to write a make-up blog.
I was going through my posts pondering what to write about today & realised (with much shock) that I have not as yet written about my brand new Jeffree Star Cosmetics Velour Liquid Lipstick, shocking I know. So here we are, today’s post is going to be a fan girl gushing over the spectacular liquid lipsticks released by Jeffree Star. I currently only have the one Posh Spice, but have made a giant list of all the shades I will be purchasing in the near future.
First of all, the packaging is gorgeous; simple streamline tube, rose gold lettering & a hot pink lid have just enough dazzle whilst still staying classy. The doe foot applicator fits my lips perfectly & is extremely soft whilst holding a tonne of product so you do not need to continuously go back into the tube for more during application. If anything there is a touch too much formula held on the applicator for my liking. The formula itself has a subtle sent, smooth texture & excellent drying time. Being true to the name, the lipstick dries with a velour finish & feel.
Posh Spice is the 90’s brown, it feeds my inner grunge chick alter ego & transitions seamlessly from day to night. In the photo above I didn’t use a lipliner & only dipped into the tube once to fully cover my lips.
All in all, as you can probably tell I am a massive fan of the product & it is most definitely worth the price point (£14 from Cocktail Cosmetics). You can pick this shade & the rest of the collection at the following sites:
I hope everyone’s week has started off well, mine certainly has. Yesterday I spent the day in Birmingham & did a touch of shopping. Of course I ended up in SuperDrug & here is my mini Sleek Make-Up haul.
These are the first Sleek products I’ve purchased & can I say I’m really impressed. I’ve heard all the hype about it being a fabulous drugstore brand & let me tell you it’s not wrong. Because I am travelling a bit at the moment I’ve had to be very strict in the volume of make-up I am purchasing, hence why this is only a mini haul. So what did I get?
Matte Me Ultra Smooth Matte Lip Cream in Birthday Suit: £4.99
& Rioja Red: £4.99
These liquid lipsticks are to die for. The wand makes for easy, controlled application & the pigmentation is awesome, you don’t need to continuously apply to build the colour, one swipe with the wand & you are good to go. They do take a bit of time to dry down completely on the lips, but once they are dry their completely matte & very light weight.
Eau La La Liner in Red Sky Night: £4.99
This is a gorgeous cool toned pink liner. The name confuses me slightly as there is not a trace of ‘red’ in the liner but thats just me being picky. The actual liner is smooth & creamy upon application & as the case says it is waterproof & smudge proof, the perfect liner for all of my pink lipsticks.
Blush in Rose Gold: £4.99
I’m not a big pink toned blush fan, but I saw a number of people reviewing this on Instagram & thought I should give it ago. I was not disappointed, this is a beautiful blush, with a light iridescent shimmer & soft rose pink tone.
It’s safe to say I am very happy with my Sleek MakeUp purchases & I will be picking up some more products very soon! Have you tried any of these items or are there any other Sleek items you can’t live without?
*I apologise that I haven’t been able to take photos of swatches of these items as I am still in a cast & it’s impossible to swatch & take photos with one arm. I will be filming a first impressions video on my channel though & creating a fresh spring look with some of these items.*
